WEST SIDE STORY - 1961
This ground-breaking, dynamic film, was based on the successful Broadway hit—a staged musical play (opening in 1957) by writer Arthur Laurents, choreographed by Jerome Robbins who co-directed with Robert Wise, & adapted for the screen by Ernest Lehman, The film retains the beautiful and electrifying musical score, songs and lyrics of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original work!
