PS/21 PRESENTS: “50 YEARS OF CRASS COMMERCIALISM

LINCOLN MAYORGA AND BRUCE BELLAND IN CONCERT
SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 3 PM at the TENT.

Lincoln Mayorga and Bruce Belland describe themselves as “two lucky guys and a grand.” And when – through their stories and music – they relive their half century of adventures with the likes of George Burns, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Ozzie and Harriet, Itzhak Perlman, Barbra Streisand, Henry Mancini, Ringo Starr, and countless others, you have to believe that luck had something to do with it – at least geographically.

“We both grew up in Hollywood and met at Hollywood High School,” Belland remembers, “That was our first lucky break.”

“Then over the next 50 years,” adds Mayorga, “we had still more luck being dropped in the middle of the Greats and working with them shoulder to shoulder. That’s where our stories and songs all come from.”

Their first collaborative success was while still students at Hollywood High with The Four Preps' million-selling classic “26 Miles” (Santa Catalina). Since then, each has established a successful concert career, Mayorga as a celebrated classical pianist and Belland (who sang lead with The Preps) as a singer and comedian.

If “Two Lucky Guys and a Grand” doesn’t grab you, how about “From Gidget" to "Gershwin" which sort of sums up the show," jokes Belland.

They’ll be sharing their reminiscences and songs that run the gamut from a tribute to Fred Astaire, through twentieth century Pop Hits, to Chopin, in a presentation Mayorga has dubbed “50 Years of Crass Commercialism” on Sunday, August 20th at 2:00 P.M. at PS/21 in Chatham.
