ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Music for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company is usually presented as an independent entity, occupying the same time and space as the choreography, but not synchronized or coordinated with it.

In this program, four composer/performers who are closely associated with the company will present several of their (music only!) works.

Christian Wolff has been associated with the Company since its inception in 1953; David Behrman, since the late Sixties; John King, since the mid-Eighties, and Stephan Moore, since 2004.

The Cunningham Company, now actively performing and touring in its  fifty-fourth year, has been influential in bringing experimental music to large audiences worldwide through the decades. Since the early Nineteen Fifties, Merce Cunningham has created over 125 repertory dance works and commissioned over 40 composers to make music for them.
